GOP Lawmaker: ‘Trump Should Have Been Arrested’ Over Crimes Committed Before Election

Published

on

During an interview with VICE News, Republican Congressman Dave Reichert of Washington State said that then-candidate Donald Trump should have been placed under arrest over his leaked “confession” that he sexually assaulted women before the Presidential election. Reichert was referring to the “Access Hollywood” tape in which Trump bragged about grabbing women genitalia.

Reichert, who once got his start as a sheriff in King County, Washington, told the publication that he never backed Trump during the election because, as a former sheriff who investigated rape cases, Trump’s “grab them by the pussy” comments were too objectionable.

The former lawman went on to say that if Trump had said his comments about grabbing women’s genitalia while under his jurisdiction, he would have arrested him on the spot.

“I’m a cop through and through. You can never take that out of somebody,” he said. “When somebody says that — you know, those recordings came out regarding sexual assaults. If the statute of limitations was still in existence, and he made those comments in King County, and you know it happened in King County, that’s a person that I would have to arrest.”

Reichert said Trump’s comments were “sort of an admission of guilt from him.”

“There was no reasonable explanation for those words,” he told VICE.

At the time of the controversy, few Republican lawmakers expressed their disgust about Trump’s comments. Instead, they moved on and endorsed the bombastic candidate right in time for the election, reinforcing rape culture and enabling a sexual predator. So hearing a sitting Republican congressman and former Sheriff say he would have arrested Trump for confessing to sexual assault comes as a surprise.

Let’s face it: whether we talk about it or not, it remains an undeniable fact that the President of the United States bragged about committing sexual crimes. But what we do, or do not do about it speaks volumes about the moral state of our nation.

‘I can’t In Good Countenance Continue To Show This’: Fox News Cut Away From Trump’s Press Sec. For Pushing Baseless Claims Of Election Fraud

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto on Monday cut away from a press briefing featuring Kayleigh McEnany, who is both the White House press secretary and a Trump campaign spokesperson, as she continued to push Donald Trump’s baseless claims of election fraud.

“She’s charging the other side as welcoming fraud and illegal voting. Unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continue to show you this,” Cavuto said as he cut off the press conference, pushing back on what he described as “explosive” charges from McEnany.

“Not so fast,” Cavuto added.

McEnany suggested, without evidence, that Democrats welcomed “fraud” and “illegal voting” in the 2020 election.

“We want every legal vote to be counted,” McEnany said, echoing President Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that votes for President-elect Joe Biden were illegal.

Though multiple major news outlets, including Fox News, have declared Biden the projected winner of the 2020 election, Trump has refused to concede and is rejecting the results, claiming that he won the election.

Meanwhile, a number of world leaders have congratulated Biden on his victory, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Even before the end of voting on November 3, the president repeatedly signaled he would claim the election was “rigged” against him if he lost, but there is no evidence to substantiate such claims.
