‘I’m Sorry This Man Is Your President’: Marine Chokes Up As He Apologizes To Troops For Trump

Appearing for an interview on MSNBC on Saturday, Iraq war veteran and current U.S. Congressman Ruben Gallego choked up while apologizing to members of the U.S. military for President Donald Trump’s inaction in the face of Russian aggression.

Asked by host Lindsey Reiser about the New York Times’ bombshell report story that Russia was offering bounties for the killing of U.S. troops — with President Trump doing nothing in response, Gallego said “it’s heartbreaking” to see our military being abandoned by our own government.

“You’re a veteran, what’s your reaction to this?” Reiser asked the Marine veteran.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Gallego replied. “I remember being a young guy in Iraq, sometimes feeling abandoned by my government. And right now, there’s a young man or woman in Afghanistan that’s reading this and what are they feeling?” he wondered.

“Their own president is hanging them out to dry for some reason, some obsession for Putin.”

He added: “I want to apologize to all of our members of the military, I’m so sorry this man is your president,” Gallego said. “This is not how it should be.”

Barkhuff looks directly at the camera while saying, “We need to send this draft dodger back to his golf courses. The lives of our troops depend on it.” The ad blew up on Twitter getting shared thousands and thousands of times.
